Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually, it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief stay was not. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa. She initially wanted to become an actress, However, following a dramatic growth spurt her partners could no longer dance with her. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. As I grew older than my male partners I stopped. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. For Brugel, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her into this path. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the the school's annual show. After trying out her options, she was eventually the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on small and big screens, attracting the greatest attention when she landed the part in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor for the season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
